Don’t be a nude selfie leak victim, and if you want to know how to turn on Two Step Authentication on your Apple accounts, here is how you do it. They have hidden this option so deep inside the account settings, it’s almost criminal.

Setting up Two-Step authentication on your iTunes/iCloud account

With the recent celebrity photo leaks, the security of Apple’s iCloud has come under fire and after asking about Two-Step authentication, which has actually been available on alot of my other accounts for a long time and of which i use. Apple’s Two step procedure is very well hidden within the Apple ID website. It doesn’t however use the Google Authenticator or equivalent app, it actually uses your mobile phone number and sends you a unique once off code. The only downside to this is that you will have to have phone reception to login, unlike the authenticator apps which even work offline. Maybe they will develop a standalone app soon.

1. So to begin Visit: https://appleid.apple.com/account/home

2. Click ‘Manage your Apple ID’ and login

3. Once logged in, click the Password and Security menu on the left side, you will have to answer your security questions to continue.

4. Up the top of the page it will have a heading saying ‘Two-Step Verification’ Click the get started link to continue

5. The next page gives you a set of instructions to turn two-step authentication on, click the blue continue button to go on.

6. Once you have clicked continue, yet another set of instructions will be presented, warning you that changes to your account will only be able to be made using the two-step method once turned on,

7. Again another page, that is warning you of what you will not be able to do once you turn it on, click get started to set it up.

8. You will have to input your phone number to receive a unique code, type that in and wait for the text.

9. Input the code you received via your phone and once verified, click continue

10. Incase you lose your phone, you will be given a unique recovery code on this page, print it out and store it safely. It’s your only backup and just to make sure you did write it down and/or print it, you will have to input it on the next page.

11. You will now be on Step 4, read the agreement and if you are sure you want to continue with turning it on, click to agree.

12. Now you will be shown a message saying Two-Step authentication has been turned on. Well done you have made your account alot more secure.
